The 2010 - 2011 Easton Synergy ST continues Easton popular "Super Tough" Synergy series. The ST offers legacy Synergy features (shaft profile, etc.) in a tougher, heavier, more durable package.
New for the 2010 ST series is a dark matte black base paint with orange, white and silver highlights. Curve patterns are familiar with the addition of the Chara P10 pattern. The stick is offered in both a matte clear and grip model.
New technology for the 2010 ST includes Kevlar reinforcement (ARK 1- armor reinforced Kevlar) zones and the "SHOX" resin transfer blade molding process, aimed to improve puck contact time during stick loading. The shaft profile retains the slightly concave sides and diagonally crossed texture of prior Synergy sticks.
Testing the ST was a bit disappointing. Although historically, the ST does not have the same responsiveness and energy as the SE models in the Synergy series, the 2010 ST seems to widen the gap.
Stick handling felt dumb, disconnected and somewhat "thick". Shooting with the ST fell considerably short of the SE16 with testing scores below its peers for both stick handling and shooting.
Bottom Line: An average performing composite hockey stick with a rather heavy, muted feel. While prior ST models seemed to offer a fair performance trade off for increased durability, the 2010 ST seems to lose a step. 89 points.
